2016 Virginia Sparkling Rose $40
Named our Commonwealth's official state grape in 2011, Viognier has a reputation for being a robust white wine with fruity notes. Commonly this sweet wine is made dry with a crisp finish. Our 2015 Viognier was grown from grapes we harvested from Honah Lee Vineyards located at the top of the foothills of the Blue Ridge and fermented in steel tanks. This beautiful craft wine can stand on its own or be paired elegantly with your favorite cheeses.
2015 Devils Three Jump Reserve Red:
Our 2015 Reserve Red is called Devil’s Three Jump after a historic roadbed that runs along the property line of historic White Plains separating Hanover County from New Kent County. This unusual name describes the property’s rolling topography that in centuries past merchants and tradesmen traced hustling goods to and from the Pamunkey River and market. In Surrey, England, Devil’s Three Jumps became associated with three hills in a row. Legend has it that the Devil used to amuse himself by leaping from the top of one to the next. This activity annoyed the God “Thor” who picked up a boulder and threw it at the Devil, causing him to flee leaving the boulder at the Devil’s Jumps. The symbolic three hills represent our wine’s perfect blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Tannat (20%), and Petit Verdot (20%). 13% alcohol, Virginia AVA
2016 Cabernet Franc
Our Cabernet Franc is a light red, perfect for many occasions. It is neither overpowering to those just acclimating to reds nor too thin for the red enthusiast. This wine retains the best characteristics of the essential earthy notes of a classic Virginia red wine. It is 95% Cab Franc, 5% Merlot. 12.3% alcohol, Virginia AVA
Old Church White
This non-vintage white blend is the perfect summer wine. Commonly referred to as an “all-purpose” white, this off dry, with 1.4% Residual Sugar, is a true utility player and pairs wonderfully with just about anything or nothing at all. It is comprised of 38% Rousanne, 25% Vidal, 13% Petit Manseng, 13% Riesling, 10% Traminette, and 3% Seyval. 13.5% alcohol, Virginia AVA.
2014 Cabernet Sauvignon $30 - SOLD OUT
In order to preserve full color and moderate any acidity in the fruit, the late fall harvest of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from Carter’s Mountain joined fruit from Mt. Juliet, and immediately hauled in lugs to be dried in a tobacco barn. The barn dehydrates the fruit, so the yield was lower than customary. Through this unique and concentrated fermentation process, our fruit offers higher brix, smoother tannins and more complexity for this finished product. Our White Plains Farm & Vineyard “Cab” is a complete, flavorful and most importantly, memorable wine.
